Novice Skills Course School Policy

1.    We offer an Approved Motorcycle Skills Training Program for $899.00. This consists of 7.3 hours of classroom training and a minimum of 13.25 hours of practical skills training not including breaks.

2.    This program also includes the Motorcycle Skills Assessment after your 13th practical hour if you have met all skills course performance goals.

  • Presenting the assessment certification form to ICBC allows ICBC to remove the supervision and speed restrictions from your Learners licence, but it is not a guarantee. ICBC does have the right to retest individuals who have qualified on an MSA.

  • Individuals who do not meet the skills course performance standards after Day 2 will be required to complete Extra Training prior to proceeding to Day 3 at an additional rate of $150.00/2 hour block.

  • Individuals who do not meet the skills course performance standards by the 13th practical hour can register for Extra Training at a rate of $150.00/2 hour block.

  •   If you do not qualify on the MSA and/or choose to do the skills test through ICBC, ICBC will not waive the earliest exam date requirements on your Learners licence.

3.    All practical training blocks include a minimum of 50 minutes of riding time per hour except the first hour which covers bike set up, controls and safety checks

4.    There will be a maximum of 10 students per course for all practical training. There will be a minimum of 2 instructors per course.

5.    Extra Training Sessions are available on Thursday evenings and select Wednesdays.

6.    Extra Training Sessions are charged at $150/2 hour block. There will be a maximum of 3 students per instructor for Extra Training Sessions.

7.    Extra Training Sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to receive a refund.

8.    All course fees must be paid in full at time of registration.

9.    Administration Charges apply for all refunds and transfers. No refunds/transfers within 15 days of course.

9.1. If the cancellation is made:
 - 31 or more days before the course begins, we will refund the course fees paid less a $100.00 administration charge.
- 15 to 30 days before the course begins, we will refund the course fees paid less a $150.00 administration charge.
- Less than 15 days before the course begins, there will be no refund of any course fees. (Exception: if we fill your seat, a refund will be issued less a $150.00 administration charge.)

9.2. A Student who does not attend all the scheduled sessions of the course they are registered in will be considered to have cancelled out of that course and will not be refunded.

Traffic Skills Course School Policy

 1.    We offer a Traffic Training Program for $499.00 to graduates of the Vancouver Island Safety Council’s Novice Skills Course. This consists of 15 hours of practical skills training not including breaks plus free use of a school bike for the road test.

2.    To be eligible for the Traffic Skills Course, you must first successfully complete the Novice Skills Course. It is highly recommended to take the Traffic Skills Course within 3-months of Novice completion.

3.    If your Traffic Skills Course is more than 3-months after Novice completion, you must attend a practical session to demonstrate to VISC instructors that you have retained and still possess the required basic motorcycle handling skills needed to ride in Traffic. The fee for this assessment is $50.00.

4.    All practical training blocks include a minimum of 45 minutes of riding time per hour except the first hour which covers bike set up, controls and safety checks.

5.    There will be a maximum 4 students per group for all practical training.

6.    Students who have not completed their training cannot use a school bike for their road test.

7.    Individuals who do not meet the skills course performance standards after Day 2 will be required to complete an Extra Training Session prior to using a school bike for their road test.

8.    Extra training is charged at $150.00/2 hour block.

9.    Extra Training Sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to receive a refund.

10. Students who require additional road tests will be charged $50.00 to use a school bike.

11. All course fees must be paid in full at time of registration.

12. Administration Charges apply for all refunds and transfers. No refunds/transfers within 15 days of course.

13. Road tests booked by the school must be cancelled 60 hours in advance so the school has time to meet ICBC’s 48 hour cancellation deadline. Otherwise, ICBC may charge you a $25 late cancellation fee.

Rider Refresher Training Course School Policy

1.    We offer Rider Refresher Training for $299.00 to riders who currently hold a valid full Class 6 or 8 Motorcycle Licence and own a motorcycle. This consists of 2 hours of classroom training and 15 hours of practical skills training not including breaks.

2.    To be eligible for the Rider Refresher Training Course, you must currently hold a valid full Class 6 or 8 Motorcycle Licence. Learner’s Licences will not be accepted.

3.    There will be a maximum of 12 students per course for all practical training. There will be a minimum of 2 instructors per course.

4.    All course fees must be paid in full at time of registration.

 1.    We offer Experienced Rider Training for $275.00 to riders who currently hold a valid full Class 6 or 8 Motorcycle Licence and own a motorcycle. This consists of 7 hours of practical skills training.

2.    To be eligible for the Experienced Rider Course, you must currently hold a valid full Class 6 or 8 Motorcycle Licence. At least 1 year of riding experience is recommended. Learner’s Licences will not be accepted.
