Motorcycle safety training

Course Offerings

Our motorcycle courses are offered weekends and weekdays throughout the riding season. See the schedules page for details.

  • Introductory Sessions (2.5 hours — mandatory attendance)

  • Novice Skills Course (24 hours)
    • 16 hours of riding and 8 hours of classroom theory
    • Students must have a valid motorcycle learners permit or class 6 license
    • All students must attend an Introduction Night prior to training
    • Since 1999, VISC has offered a Women's Only course. Check the Schedule for more information
  • Traffic Skills Course (16 hours)
    • Prerequisite: completion of the Novice Skills Course
    • Two days of instruction ending with an evaluation of your Traffic Skills
    • The final Road Test must be done by ICBC (Motor Vehicle Branch)
  • Refresher Course (7 hours)
  • Experienced Rider Course (16 hours)
    • Most motorcyclists learn to ride on their own, without the help of professional training.
    • As a result, many have serious gaps in their knowledge of motorcycle control techniques or poor habits which increase safety risks.
    • This course is designed to master fundamental control techniques, refine and extend maneuvering skills and improve emergency response performance.
